Why should I listen to you, anyway? You’re a virgin who can’t drive.

Whom will revere the Black woman? Who will keep our neighborhoods safe for Black innocent womanhood? Black woman is outraged and humiliated. Black womanhood cries for dignity and restitution and salvation. Black womanhood wants protection, and keeping, and holding. Who will assuage her indignation? Who will keep her precious and pure? Who will glorify and proclaim her beautiful image? To whom will she cry rape?

color·blinding: Review: Clean and Dry Intimate Wash- For a better, whiter vagina

drvy:

Disgrasian ran an article criticizing skin-whitening products, particularly highlighting Clean and Dry Intimate Wash, a vaginal whitening cream recently launched in India with a 25 second ad on primetime tv that shows a man disinterested in his (clearly very light-skinned) partner…

These are traps that he creates. If you speak in an angry way about what has happened to our people and what is happening to our people, what does he call it? Emotionalism. Pick up on that. Here the man has got a rope around his neck and because he screams, you know, the cracker that’s putting the rope around his neck accuses him of being emotional. You’re supposed to have the rope around your neck and holler politely, you know. You’re supposed to watch your diction, not shout and wake other people up – this is how you’re supposed to holler. You’re supposed to be respectable and responsible when you holler against what they’re doing to you. And you’ve got a lot of Afro-Americans who fall for that. They say, “No, you can’t do it like that, you’ve got to be responsible, you’ve got to be respectable.” And you’ll always be a slave as long as you’re trying to be responsible and respectable in the eyesight of your master; you’ll remain a slave. When you’re in the eyesight of your master, you’ve got to let him know you’re irresponsible and you’ll blow his irresponsible head off.

Malcolm X - Afro American History - From International Socialist Review, Vol.28 No.2, March-April 1967, pp.3-48.

I reblogged a shorter version of this quotation a few days ago and really wanted to read the full text. I still haven’t gotten around to reading the full text, but I feel like this quotation has so much more power in its entirety.

If Superman can be whoever we want him to be (as stated by Grant Morrison) than this is who I want Superman to be. Forever.
I only want to read about Black President Superman forever.

In a state of hype(r)panik.: Dear Tumblr People of Color,

completely and utterly feel you. sometimes I feel like I can’t go after others for what they say because what we talk about is sometimes even worse. We just don’t have the power to make it detrimental.

Specifically Black and Latino folk-Without any white people interjecting or saying stupid baseless shit about how “SEE POC ARE JUST AS OPPRESSIVE/LOL THEY CAN’T GET IT TOGETHER”, in fact without any white people at all, we need to have the whole personal accountability conversation among ourselves…
